Community Engagement

Be a Councilmember that is truly an accessible member of the community to both residents and staff. Allow every resident to have the ability to be seen, heard, and understood  by their elected officials, not just during city council meetings. Create “Community Hubs” around the city to foster a sense of belonging and community.

City Development/Redevelopment

Advocate on behalf of the residents to bring new, high-end businesses into the City. Work with County, State, and Federal Government Officials to increase City of Bowie infrastructure as population and housing continues to grow. Analyze the opportunity gaps for businesses throughout the City to create opportunities for residents to become new business owners. Develop policies that allow small businesses to thrive and create the next generation of sustainable “Mom & Pop” shops.

Public Safety

Invest and expand crime prevention and community policing programs. Support non-profit social programs throughout the city to promote access to mental health and emergency resources. Advocate on behalf of the Bowie Police Department in the recruitment and retention of officers. Further development of the City of Bowie’s youth programs allowing for the engagement of young people in positive activities with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Budget

Ensure that the AAA Bond rating for the city is maintained and develop supplemental ways and means to raise revenue for the city budgetary fund via federal and state grants. Utilize proper social impact bonds through public-private partnerships to create new opportunities within the city without placing the financial burden on residents. Explore opportunities to recover City costs from entities that directly benefit from city services. Promote businesses and events that attract visitors to the city, boosting the local business economy and generating revenue from hospitality, dining, and entertainment.

Environment & Sustainability

Push our city’s sustainability efforts further by expanding upon Bowie’s impact towards greener and renewable energy programs. Support the expanding of the City’s Climate Action plan and develop additional methods to adopt new green building & development practices. Revitalize older buildings to create green business spaces that support redevelopment before new development. Reduce the need for car dependency throughout the city by working with county and state officials to promote the enhancement of public transportation and active transportation options throughout the city. Ensure City developers support the Climate Action Plan’s goals when creating new buildings.
