Progressive local government starts by making power easier to reach. Residents should not have to already know the system to be heard, so Bowie needs community hubs, neighborhood listening, language-accessible updates, and clear follow-through after people speak up.

The platform is built around the issues Bowie residents feel in daily life: being heard, controlling growth, staying safe, protecting affordability, caring for the environment, and building stronger opportunities for young people.

Zoning and land-use authority belong in this fight: residents need stronger city leverage over redevelopment, mixed-use projects, traffic impacts, housing expectations, anti-displacement protections, local business needs, and community benefits.
Safe neighborhoods need strong staffing, community policing, youth options, mental health connections, violence interruption partnerships, safe routes, and household safety programs.
Budget decisions should preserve essential services, pursue grants and partnerships, improve transparency, plan for long-term maintenance, and reduce pressure on residents already watching costs rise.
Climate-conscious growth should protect parks, tree canopy, trails, streams, transportation choices, cleaner public spaces, and the public places that make Bowie feel like home.
City Council does not run PGCPS, but Bowie can be a powerful partner: coordinating with school, county, and state leaders on safer schools, mental health supports, after-school options, safe routes, and career pathways.
City Election Districts
The official City of Bowie map shows the four council districts. Because the At-Large seat serves every resident, these priorities have to make sense across neighborhoods, not just in one corner of the city.
Citywide Responsibility
Growth, public safety, budget choices, environmental conditions, and community engagement do not stop at district lines. An at-large councilmember should connect neighborhood concerns into citywide action.
